Wakeboarding, Inner-Tubing, Knee-boarding, and Sunburning

We went to the lake this weekend.  Justin and I used to go EVERY weekend when we were first dating, but those trips have gotten fewer and farther between in the last few years.  Both girls are complete water rats, so taking them to the lake and/or river is always lots of fun.  They have zero fear. We started with a little swimming and rope swinging… And then moved on.. Read More

Be Present

This weekend I had a to-do list 10 miles high.  The laundry pile was taking over our bedroom.  The floor was still sticky from a spilled glass of grape juice that didn’t get cleaned up well enough.  The dogs needed bathing. But then my girls decided they needed me.  They needed me to cuddle and watch TV.  They needed me to read books.  They needed me to paint toenails.  They.. Read More

The Story of Our Summer, Part 1

Our summer has really had a very busy start–I almost didn’t realize it was summer break yet!!  We’ve loved on Max a LOT…. Well, here he is supervising me doing yoga, but that counts, right? The Color Run happened.  Justin and I didn’t run, because we had to leave immediately after to go to a wedding in Kentucky, but the girls OWNED the fun run! We had VBS at our.. Read More

WMES Rebel Run <--proud mama over here!

Our whole family ran the annual Rebel Run 5K a few weeks ago.  I was the first woman to cross the finish line, with a time of 24:50.  Not my best time, but not too shabby either.  Especially since Justin was eating my dust the whole way! Here I am, headed toward the finish line: And here’s Justin.  BEHIND me, crossing the finish line 🙂 And as fun as that.. Read More

We’re Alive, We’re Alive!

I apologize for the lack of posts this past week– our family has been busy vacationing for Winter Spring Break.  The weather, even in Orlando, Florida, was in the upper 70’s.  Not exactly what I was hoping for so far south, but whatev’s.   I’ll be back soon with stories of us getting STUCK at the Magic Kingdom, meeting a celebrity, and a tale about Shampoo, the killer whale.  Oh.. Introducing Max

I just realized I hadn’t introduced our new family member to blogland yet.  And he has been a part of our family for a whole week already.  So, here is Max: He is the puppy of a mutt, that we chose to call Spot, who came up to our house when we still lived at the farm.  Spot is some type of bulldog mix.  The girls have completely mistreated Max… Read More

A post from the history books….

When checking my old email address the other day, I ran across this old blog that I had started over a year before I started this blog.  I didn’t want to lose that information, so I just copied and pasted it here.  Not sure how well this is going to work, so the actual link is here.  Those blogs refresh every so often though, and I’m afraid wordpress will delete my.. Family

I come from a relatively small family.  I have one sister and six first-cousins, four of whom are MUCH younger than I am.  So it was a completely new experience to me when I met Justin’s family and he had four brothers and sisters and six first cousins.  And they are SO CLOSE. Now, the family is all spread out and are rarely able to get together.  This weekend is.. Read More

Pumpkin Patch tradition

For four years now, the West family and the Johnson family have made annual visits to the Pumpkin Patch.  Our usual place is Tate Farms, but this year, we tried out Gullion Farms.  (You may remember that name from this post.) The kids had SO much fun!  They saw the animals in the petting zoo…. … and did a little fishing. Horseback riding… Corn-crib swimming…. Hay-loft jumping…. Wagon riding… Picture.. Read More

Gladiator Battle

Disclaimer:  These photos somehow got lost in the backlog–they were actually taken on July 4th at the Renfro’s Independence Day Celebration. In the right corner, weighing in at 40 pounds, is Kyndall West! In the left corner, weighing in at a lean, mean 29 pounds, is the Libster! And the battle is on.  Kyndall gets a quick jab to the right, but Libby quickly dodges. Kyndall gets the upper hand.. Read More
