About a birthday party

My niece, Madi, turns 5 on Tuesday.  Her birthday party was on Sunday at Nana and Papaw’s pool.  The girls had so much fun playing!  Here are a few quick snaps: There were chicken fights….  And girl talks. Cake and snacks. And pool inspections. And overall, lots and lots of fun!

Thankful

Today, I’m thankful. For the rain, which we have been without for far too long. For people who work out in the rain–utility workers, garbage men, and anyone else who I’m forgetting.  As I was driving today through the pouring down rain, I saw a garbage man, dripping wet, hop off the truck to grab a can.  As I passed him, he smiled.  Happy in spite of his circumstances.  I.. Taking Down a Fence

Yay! We had a very productive Saturday.  One thing I love about living on a farm–whenever you start on a project, there are bound to be helpers that show up!  We started taking down the goat fence (the one I mentioned in this post) and within a few minutes, my dad and papa had both shown up to lend a hand!  Here’s the crew getting ready.  And here’s how we.. Ordinary Days

Today has been a perfectly ordinary day.  There was mostly good.  There was a little bad.  It’s not really worth retelling.  Our perfectly ordinary day has, in an odd way, made my heart heavy.  I’m so very thankful that my girls spent the day splashing and giggling at the pool.  I love that we spent time with friends and basked in the sunshine.  I am undeniably grateful that we have.. Our Weekend: A Photo Story

The past few days, the temperature around here has ranged from 106-111 degrees.  In the last 3 days, these girls have spent a total of 28 hours in the pool.  There were swim races. And splish-splashes. Suntans. And gangsta poses. A wedding. And make-overs. LOTS of fun spent with family. And a little productivity.  A few months back, my wonderful in-laws passed down this patio furniture when they purchased new. .. Read More

A friendly little wager

After another fun-filled day at the pool, soaking up the sun, the girls and I came home to sort money.  Justin has this gallon sized jug that he drops his change into each day, and lately, it’s overflowing.  So we divided all the money out until it looked like this: And then we all made bets on how much all that change would add up to be.  The predictions go something.. A birthday party

Happy birthday to my Daddy!! He turned a ripe old 39 today! (Just kidding, he’s a tad older than that, but we’ll keep it a secret!)  Here he is with all his girls: We celebrated his happy years with a dinner at my parents house and a homemade peach cobbler.  Yummy 🙂  Happy birthday to the best Daddy in the world! We also spent the day with the Johnson family,.. Read More

Flea Market Finds……or lack of

Today we went to the Nashville Flea Market.  Thank goodness we went with great friends or the day would have been a bust! It was not what I expected at all.  I was hoping for a leisurely day looking through some junk.  That’s basically what I got, only the junk was EXPENSIVE!! I’m talking hundreds of dollars expensive.  Carrie found this really cute shutter that she considered refinishing… until we.. Read More

Busy, Busy Bee

That’s what I’ve been today.  Completely.  We spent about 2 hours at the pool this morning, and then I came back and got down to work.  I finished about 7 pages in our Disney 2010 album (I’ll show you those later). My wall went from this: to this: and finally, to this: I still need to get frames for the 5×7 photos and come up with some words to put.. Read More

Happy Father’s Day!

We are in no shortage of awesome men around here.  My girls and I are so very blessed to be surrounded by Godly men who influence, inspire, and lead us.  As I watched the girls today playing with their daddy, fishing with their Papaw (and great-Papaw), making ice cream with Pops, and swimming with Papa, I that God that we have these men in our lives.  So many do not. ..
