5 things right now

1. My five year old told me this morning that I was ruining her life. All because I vetoed her restaurant of choice for lunch. (She was kidding as she said this, but I envisioned the future and teenage years and it wasn’t pretty!) 2. In my real life, I am the library media specialist (new, fancy title for librarian) at our school. Next week is the book fair, so.. Read More

Our No-Snow Snow Day

School ended up being cancelled today.  It’s delayed tomorrow and Wednesday, too.  Now, I don’t mind getting an unexpected free day, not at all, but this weather just stinks.  Zero snow, 13 degrees and feels like -4.  IN ALABAMA.  What the what?  We can’t even leave our house.  I don’t know how you people in the northern states do it.  We’ve done a little of this: And a little of.. A Day of Christmas Parties (and a post full of pictures!)

Both girls had their Christmas parties at school today.  And like the Mom-of-the-Year that I so obviously am, I forgot my camera at home.  {Insert really mad face here!}  Thank goodness for camera phones, right? Libby’s party was first, at 9:00 a.m.  They sang Christmas carols, and then made Gingerbread houses. Libby and Koby–the “Dynamic Duo”. Kyndall’s party was at 12:30–they had cookie cake and a book swap.   We.. Read More

Disney on Ice: School-wide field trip

I know you have all been on pins and needles waiting on my report.  I am happy to say that the school-wide field trip today to see Disney on Ice was a SUCCESS!  All ten buses, filled with all 590 students and faculty, made it safely to and from the civic center. The students seemed to LOVE the show!  Here we are, filling in 6 entire sections.  (There were a.. Read More

A Drug Deal Gone Bad

Let me start this post out by saying that I am not making light of what happened today.  I completely support and appreciate the actions taken by city officials and emergency management professionals.  The safety of our students FAR outweighs ANY inconvenience.  That being said, here is the story of our day. Around 10:00 a.m., we received an announcement over the intercom at school.  A suspicious package had been found.. Read More

First Homecoming Dance

My big girl attended her first homecoming dance this week.  Now, just to clarify, this dance IS closely monitored by teachers and parents.  The music was chosen beforehand and there were zero slow songs.  It was for 2nd through 4th graders at our school and was a fundraiser for a 4th grade field trip.  Kyndall was SO excited though.  She picked out her dress herself, which says a lot.  Normally,.. A Library Visitor and Cute Target Stuff

Let me start this post by saying I know these photos are completely crappy.  Yes, that IS a snake.  Thus the reason for the crappy photos–I wasn’t getting too close! Yesterday, as I was walking through the library, I noticed what I thought was a rubber snake in the floor.  I thought some student had put it there to scare me.  I kept walking by, put a few books up,.. Back to School + the Last First Day of Kindergarten

Hello.  My name is Courtney, and I am having an EXTREMELY hard time with my last baby girl starting kindergarten.  It seems like just yesterday that I was bringing her home, and now she comes to school with me and Kyndall.  I don’t quite know how to take it. On Thursday night, we had Open House.  We took both girls to their classrooms and took lots of fun photos! The.. Read More

Her Moment Of Fame

Kyndall was on our school’s morning news show this morning talking about how she is a leader.  See her here: http://westmorganelem.al.mce.schoolinsites.com/?PageName=LatestNews&Section=LatestNews&ItemID=221122&ISrc=School&Itype=News

Friday Free-For-All

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a wrap-up post, and boy do I have a lot to catch up on!! Kyndall is sailing right along in first grade, loving every single second.  Libby is treading water in Pre-K… some days are great, some not so much.  Shirts have been trucking along full speed, keeping us busier than we ever expected.  Soccer is in full swing, but will start wrapping up..
