Confession: Easter is My Favorite Holiday

It’s true.  Of all the holidays, I think Easter is my favorite.  And this is why. There is less focus on gifts and more focus on the reason for the holiday.  Yes, the Easter bunny comes with a basket full of goodies, but it’s much more low-key than Christmas. For the past several years, our entire family has gotten together at my mom’s house.  This includes both sides of my.. Read More

Throwback Thursday Stories: Strong

I’m not sure if it’s the story I’ve been sharing in the library (Baseball Saved Us by Ken Mochizuki), or the fact that she would have been ELATED about Kyndall’s baptism,  but I’ve been thinking about Mamaw West a lot lately.  I wanted her story to be the first I shared in participation with The Mom Creative’s link-up. ———————————————————————————————————— Oh, this woman.  My heart swells with pride as I look.. Just Like A Circus

Yes, I just used Britney Spears lyrics’ as the title to this post. It had the word circus, and I was desperate for something other than “Our trip to the circus.” {hangs head in shame.} Sunday afternoon we went on a whole-family excursion to the Barnum & Bailey circus. Papa with all his girls 🙂  The girls have been before, but they didn’t quite remember it.  Libby loved everything, and.. Read More

Love this Life

As I watch my girls play this afternoon, attempting to sell flowers from this makeshift stand of cardboard boxes, I want so hard to freeze time.  I’d say these years, at 5 and 7, are the best years.  But I’ve said that for every age so far.  (Except maybe the threes–everyone says twos are the worst, but I disagree.)  I love listening to their conversations. I love hearing ‘Watch me,.. Read More

Orlando Vacation, Part 2–The One Where We Meet Anna & Elsa

Our original vacation plans only included 3 days at Universal Studios.  It really hurt my heart that were were going to be SO close to Disney and not see Anna and Elsa, who just happen to be our favorite.  If you’ve ever been to Disney though, you know that going for only a day is much more expensive than going for several days, so it just wasn’t in our budget… Read More

Orlando Vacation, Part 1 (Universal Studios Tips)

We left Saturday morning around 5 am and began the LONG drive to Orlando.  We stopped at the Florida sign for our traditional photo. Don’t you love the “Open For Business” sign above our heads? 🙂 We didn’t get to our hotel until late, so we spent the first night just getting settled.  Shout out to the Hampton Inn–it’s our favorite.  We try to stay at one whenever we can… Read More

5 things right now

1. My five year old told me this morning that I was ruining her life. All because I vetoed her restaurant of choice for lunch. (She was kidding as she said this, but I envisioned the future and teenage years and it wasn’t pretty!) 2. In my real life, I am the library media specialist (new, fancy title for librarian) at our school. Next week is the book fair, so.. Read More

From the Camera Roll

I’m shaking things up around here a little bit and doing a “From the Camera Roll” post on Wednesday instead of Friday.  I do what I want, yo 🙂 A teacher at our school has a corn snake as a class pet.  Wouldn’t you know it, my girls LOVE Roxie!  They want to hold her ALL the time, and bring her to the library so that I can love on.. Snowpocalypse 2014

Lord have mercy we have SNOW in ALABAMA!! We are enjoying every tiny little flake.  Apparently, my snowman building skills are lacking.  We tried to save this little guy by calling him a snow penguin.  That’s a little better, right? They played for several hours–throwing snowballs, sledding, snowboarding on a sled: Who needs a board when you can just use a sled? We definitely had a fun-filled day!  When the.. Read More

New Baby Love

We got home late Sunday night from a quick weekend trip to Arkansas to see my sister-and-brother-in-law and their adorable, precious, perfect new baby boy. We left Thursday evening around 8:00 and made it just past Memphis before stopping for the night.  At one point, all three girls looked like this: Now THAT is some good sleeping! We reached Luke and Kristi’s house around 1pm on Friday and immediately began.. Read More
