That's What She Said, FebruaryI am surrounded by the funniest people. I love a good sarcastic comment, or wrongly used word, or sometimes even a made-up word.  That’s What She Said is a monthly round-up of all the things I’ve heard lately that have made me giggle.  And while Libby usually steals the show, this month there are quite a few funnies heard at school.

For this story, you need a little background information:  Our friends, the Terry’s, are in the process of adopting from China.  We have been talking to the girls about what that will look like for their family and the great need our world has for fostering/adoption.

We were attending a performance of the African Children’s Choir at our church recently, and Libby had lots of questions.  During the middle of a performance, Libby gasped and leaned over to me.  She asked, “Is Mrs. Lisa getting an African?”

Obviously, we still have some explaining to do.

Last week, Jase had an appointment with a pediatric eye specialist.  We were told that his vision is very poor and he will need glasses.  When we were explaining to the girls that he couldn’t see well and would need to wear his glasses all the time, Libby exclaimed, “He’s just like Helen Keller!”

Earlier in the month, we had a first grade student who got in trouble for saying a cuss word in class.  As his punishment, he was required to write sentences during his PE time.  Our vice principal wrote the sample sentence, “I will not say cuss words in class,” at the top of his page and then left him to copy the sentences.  At the end of the PE period, the VP went back to check on him.

Apparently, the student thought the sentence said “I will not say these cuss words in class”, because he had written a list of words that were inappropriate for him to use at school.  Phonetically correct, of course.  There were words like “beesh” and “neeka” and “mutha”…. I’ll let you decode those on your own.

Another first grade student had to write a story about his favorite food.  It went as follows:

I love tacows.  Tacows are my favrit food.  Tacows are dashit.

Hope you got a laugh from these– I sure did!
