Lately

We have been doing a whole lot of nothing around here lately and it has been absolutely wonderful.  Basketball is over and between bed rest and a new baby and the freezing temperatures outside, we do not leave this house.  Well, the girls leave to go to school, but that’s about it. You know what’s great about being at home?  I get to spend it with my people.  Like, really.. Read More

Jase Allen: A birth story, part 2

If you missed part 1 of Jase’s birth story, click here. I delivered at Madison Hospital, which is a relatively new, smaller hospital in our area.  They were super laid back, but completely experienced.  While other hospitals are very strict about procedures and the amount of visitors, Madison allowed me to set my own guidelines.  The nurse told me I could have as many visitors as I wanted, and if.. Disney On Ice, 2014

Our school took its second-annual, school-wide, Disney on Ice field trip last Friday.  It is such a fun trip and I love that we load all 600 students and faculty up to go.  (How about that big belly crammed into that little tshirt in the above photo? Ha!) The girls would enjoy just riding the bus.  I think that is one of their favorite parts of any field trip they.. Read More

The Weekend Lens

We had a friend-filled weekend, and this mama has been looking forward to Monday to catch up on my rest 🙂 On Friday night, Justin took Kyndall hunting with a friend and his daughter.  They spent the night a few hours away from home.  Lots of fun, but no luck with the hunting. With them gone, Libby invited Maggie to spend the night.  GraGra and Pops took the girls to.. Read More

Third Grade Field Trip (AKA Pumpkin Patch Visit #3)

Earlier in the week, Justin and I went to Gullion Farms with Kyndall’s third grade class.  She insisted we both go because Libby got us both on her field trip, and this was only fair 🙂 There were big slide races–Kyndall won every time. She used her hands to push herself down faster, which was HILARIOUS.  She shared a swing with her teacher–they even both jumped out at the same.. Read More

Week In The Life: Friday Words + Photos

6:15 am- When I woke Libby up this morning, from my bed, the first words she said were “I slept AWESOME!” 7:15 am- It’s Halloween, so both girls got to wear their costumes to school.  They had cookies and candy and games and TONS of fun. 3:30 pm- Super quick, fifteen minute rest time for the pregnant mama who had too little sleep last night and too many sweets today… Read More

Just A Few Things for Monday

1.  From soccer to basketball.  Kyndall played her first game this weekend, during a preseason tournament.  She had SO much fun and did SO good.  She scored 2 points and had several steals.  I mean, how tough does she look in that picture? 2.  Libby had the stomach virus over the weekend, so she didn’t cheer at her game on Saturday.  She did feel well enough to come cheer Kyndall on.. Parents, Grandparents, and Pumpkins… Oh My!

October, November, and December are some of my most favorite months of the year.  It seems like that are stock-full of all kinds of fun things to do. On Monday night, I made my World’s Best Chili (stay tuned later in the week for that recipe) and both sets of grandparents (and Aunt Mal) came to eat and help us carve pumpkins. Pops and Daddy cut the tops off and.. Read More

Making Art

This. This is what being a mom to two girls looks like right now.  There aren’t army men or nerf bullets (usually), although I’m sure that will come when Baby Jase gets here.  Right now, there’s just art. Drawings. Stories. Paper bag puppets. And art. Everywhere.  And lots of it. Each time I find myself getting frustrated at the piles (and piles, and piles, and piles) of paper and.. Read More

Madam Vice President

As I mentioned in this post, Kyndall ran for Vice President of our school’s Student Council last week.  There were 12 students running for this position, and Kyndall had to give a speech in front of around three hundred people.  (Deep down inside, I wanted to talk her out of it.  I didn’t even try, but I sooo wanted to.  How scary!  She’s only 8!)  She did AWESOME.  They all..
