Today is the last day of September.  I can’t even.  The older I get, the faster time flies.  I am linking up today with Emily P. Freeman to share what I’ve learned in September.  I have really enjoyed reflecting back over the month about what I have learned.  It makes me feel so adult! 🙂

What I Learned September
Hurry is not of the devil, hurry is the devil.  Carl Jung gets credit for this quote, but I read it in this post by Frank Powell.  In my own life, I know this is true.  This summer, before our lives got so chaotic, I was great about getting in daily quiet time and bible study.  When our lives got crazy, those were one of the first things to go.  I even catch myself considering skipping church services when our schedule is hectic.

If someone talks to you about others, they will talk about you to others.  I have known this my whole life, but my knowledge was refreshed recently.

I have got to start purchasing more physical books and less e-books.  I asked the girls the other day what they thought my favorite hobby was and both of them answered, “Playing on your iPad.”  Truth?  90% of my iPad time is spent reading.  They don’t know this, though, because it’s the iPad.  And somehow, “Mom loves to read” sounds so much better than “Mom loves to play on her iPad.”

My ability to impact the world is directly dependent on how well I take care of myself.  You can’t squeeze water from a dry sponge.  I copied this down into my phone notes from a Huffington post article I read, but I forgot to credit the source.  Then when I attempted to search for the author, I couldn’t find anything.  I’m risking plagiarism and listing it anyways because of the wisdom that it is.

Now it’s your turn! What have you learned this month?
