After today, summer vacation is officially upon us.  (The girls have been finished since Tuesday, but today is MY last day.)  Hallelujah, Praise Jesus, All the Jazz Hands–in all the years I’ve taught I have never been as ready for summer vacation as I have been this year! Please forgive my lack of posting and I promise to resume my normal schedule ASAP!

Now let’s get to it! (Disclaimer:  Please excuse the picture quality–bowling alleys and school gymnasiums don’t have the greatest lighting.  And I am, by far, not the greatest photographer.)

Five on Friday 4a

one. Kyndall’s last choir performance. The whole performance had an 80’s theme and Kyndall and a few of her friends dressed up like Tom Cruise from Risky Business. You know that scene where he’s dancing around in his button up white shirt and underwear? Singing I Love That Old Time Rock and Roll? K and her friends even ran through, sliding in their socks and strumming air guitars. It was so super cute and I love that she was a part of this group this year!

Five On Friday 4dtwo. Field trips galore!  We went on our last fourth grade field trip with Kyndall. We toured Ivy Green and had lunch at Spring Park in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Kyndall fed the ducks, rode the roller coaster and the train around the park, and enjoyed a snow cone.

Libby’s class celebrated the end of the school year with a bowling field trip. I had so much fun watching her bowl–that ball weighs almost as much as she does!

Five on Friday 4bthree. Fourth grade graduation.  I can not believe that my big girl will be starting middle school next year.  She is a little nervous and a lot excited–her mama, not so much.  I’m trying so hard to put on a brave face, but I’m struggling with the fact that she will no longer be at school with me.  She is growing up so fast and I want to slow it down, just a little!

Five on Friday 4ffour. Awards day.  I could not be more proud of these girls if I tried.  They are kind, they are beautiful, and they are oh-so-smart.  Kyndall received an award for A-Honor Roll, the High Fitness Governor’s award, and a trophy for runner-up in our school spelling bee.  Libby received A-Honor roll and the High Fitness Governor’s award.

Five On Friday 4cfive. The end of nursing.  The time has come to stop nursing my baby boy.  For several months now, he has only been nursing at night before bed.  I kept thinking he would give it up on his own and that hasn’t happened.  (The opposite, actually.)  The past several nights, we have spent long stretches of time on the swing outside to get him to sleep.  We start out here and we come back out here when he wakes up during the night.  It’s not been easy, but I’m hoping we are on the downhill slope.  Fingers crossed he learns to sleep in his own bed, without Mommy as a paci, very soon!

Happy weekend, y’all!  I have several exciting posts on tap for next week–our recent Nashville trip, my favorite instagrammers, and a house update.  Meet you back here on Monday 🙂
