BatheABeast1In case you were wondering, yes we still have our fur babies. I know things have been all about our real kids lately, but Max and Oakley are still very much a part of our lives.  (We LOVE our dogs.  I only call Max a beast because of his size.  He’s actually a really great dog.  Well, he needs major leash-walking lessons, but other than that, he’s a really great dog!)

BatheABeast4We bathe our dogs about every 2 weeks. I know it’s not good for their skin to be washed that often, but they stay inside and I cannot stand the smell of dirty dog. We use shampoo specially formulated for dry skin, so I’m hoping that makes it ok 🙂

Before attempting to bathe your beast, it’s important to gather lots of help. You’ll also need to round up all your supplies, because there is no leaving him to get that towel you forgot.

BatheABeast3Our Max is a mixed breed dog, but part of him is Great Pyrenees. Because of this, he has two coats, which just means there is more of him to wash. (In the summer, we keep him shaved, but there is still plenty of him to bathe!) In order to get both of his coats clean (and to make him smell really good), we usually wash him twice.

BatheABeast2Dogs with floppy ears have TONS of ear issues and Max is no exception. Right now, we are battling an ear infection that has his ear really swollen and just gross. One way to keep ear infections down is to always dry the ear area after bathing.

Let me be honest and say that, even though he’s little, Oakley is a lot harder to bathe than Max. He has sharp little nails and despises bath time, so it’s never fun when it’s his turn.  Plus, he’s squirmy.

BatheABeast5Everyone loves bath day because it means extra snuggles.  And Max just look so stinking handsome when he’s shiny and clean.  🙂
