Currently, Vol. 2

First things first, I want to apologize for the lack of posting last week.  It was Book Fair week at school, which is always crazy.  By the time I got home in the afternoons, I was beat.  Done for.  Finished. So we are starting our week off with a “Currently” post.   Be sure to check back Wednesday and Friday for our Panama City Beach recaps, too.   This girl.. Read More

Read Across America 2016

Today we are wrapping up Read Across America Week at school.  (As an elementary school librarian, Read Across America week is my favorite!  And who doesn’t love a good dress-up day?)  We celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and all things related to reading  all week long. In addition to getting our tongues-tied reading all those Dr. Seuss books, we had lots of fun dress-up days. Monday was school-wide SUPERHERO day, since the.. Read More

Famous Americans in Second Grade

On Monday night, Libby participated in our school’s second grade program. The title of the program is Famous Americans and characters range from Abraham Lincoln to Mia Hamm to Clara Barton. Libby, obviously,  was the Statue of Liberty. This program is one of my favorites that our school hosts.  I’m always so impressed with the students’ costumes–they are seriously miniature versions of their Famous American. Libby had a speaking part.. Read More

Our American Flag

I am a very emotional person, but not many things make me cry.  On the short list of things that do are my kids growing up,  issues of injustice, and any act of patriotism. (Those soldier-coming-home-surprise videos get me every single time!).  So you can imagine the mess I was on Friday when my big girl participated in putting up and taking down the flags at our school. Mrs. Burt showed.. Read More

A Prayer For Our Schools

We have a little over a month until school starts back and I’m equal parts excited, sad, and nervous.  I truly love my job and the start of a new year is the best time–all the planning and organizing and decorating–but I’m super sad to be leaving Jase while I go to work.  (Seriously, if schools had daycares for teachers’ kids, it would be awesome.) This year, for the first.. Read More

A Little Old Update

First, some business. If you follow me on social media, you know I started back to work this week. (You also know how badly I hate leaving my sweet boy, so I’ll save my whining.) I’ve been trying to post regularly on here for the past several months and I’m still going to try to do that, my posts will just be more limited. Instead of three times a week,.. Read More

Cave Touring With My Big Girl

Last week, Justin and I were both able to go with Kyndall on a field trip to Cathedral Caverns State Park.  I always love field trips with my girls because its another chance for one-on-one time with them.  It was probably one of the neatest field trips we have been on so far. At Cathedral Caverns, we traveled 1.5 miles back into this massive cave, ending up an entire football.. Read More

Disney On Ice, 2014

Our school took its second-annual, school-wide, Disney on Ice field trip last Friday.  It is such a fun trip and I love that we load all 600 students and faculty up to go.  (How about that big belly crammed into that little tshirt in the above photo? Ha!) The girls would enjoy just riding the bus.  I think that is one of their favorite parts of any field trip they.. Read More

A First Grade Program

Last week, Libby participated in her first grade program at school.  She memorized her part so well and even got to dress as an Indian. (Native American for you politically correct folks.) All of first grade lined up on the makeshift stage and told the story of the first Thanksgiving.  There were students dressed as food:  cranberry sauce,  a turkey, dressing, potatoes.  There were students dressed as Pilgrims.  Some were.. Third Grade Field Trip (AKA Pumpkin Patch Visit #3)

Earlier in the week, Justin and I went to Gullion Farms with Kyndall’s third grade class.  She insisted we both go because Libby got us both on her field trip, and this was only fair 🙂 There were big slide races–Kyndall won every time. She used her hands to push herself down faster, which was HILARIOUS.  She shared a swing with her teacher–they even both jumped out at the same.. Read More
