Pen pals come to visit + a field trip = an awesome time in 2nd grade!

It’s only Tuesday, and this week has been rockin’ for K!  On Monday, her pen pal came for a visit and they carved a pumpkin: And then today, we took a field trip to Pine Ridge Day camp.   There were the normal, obligatory photos with friends: And a hike.  The class. The silliness. The pumpkin. The petting zoo. The hay ride.  The mommy. All the mommies. And the thing.. Read More

Via the Camera Roll

Heads up–I am shamelessly copying this blog post idea from SkinnyRunner.com.  Each week, she does a “via the camera roll” post of her photos from the previous week.  So this post is my unloading of photos from the week that didn’t make it to the blog yet.  Things that are noteworthy, but not worthy of a full post all to themselves. 🙂 This week was homecoming week at our school… Read More

The Greatest Pumpkin Patch Ever!

This weekend, we went to Lyon Family Farms in Taft, Tennessee.  I consider our family an expert on pumpkin patches in our area–we have been to every single one within a 2 hour driving distance.  Lyon Family Farms was, by far, the greatest ever. Here’s the crew (shirts courtesy of Crafty Cookie Boutique). And my favorite part of the food–roasted corn.  They also had steak sandwiches, pork loin plates, nachos,.. Read More

Wakeboarding, Inner-Tubing, Knee-boarding, and Sunburning

We went to the lake this weekend.  Justin and I used to go EVERY weekend when we were first dating, but those trips have gotten fewer and farther between in the last few years.  Both girls are complete water rats, so taking them to the lake and/or river is always lots of fun.  They have zero fear. We started with a little swimming and rope swinging… And then moved on.. Read More

Project Life

I’ve fallen a little behind on my Project Life layouts.  I’ve been working some this week, but instead of staying chronological, I skipped around a little bit to week 21.  I’ll get to weeks 18-20, and 22-24, sometime.  But here is week 21: Left side: Right side: This layout was special to me because it was the weekend of the Alabama Jubilee.  It’s a hot air balloon festival that is.. First Grade End-of-the-Year Celebration

Today was the end of the year field trip for first grade.  They went to Spring Park in Tuscumbia, AL and had so much fun!  They have a small roller coaster to ride, ducks and geese to feed, and this cute little train that went all around the park. Here is Kyndall with part of her class: After the park, a few of us moms took our kids to the.. Read More

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip at 4D Farms

Kyndall’s class ventured out on a pumpkin patch field trip on the absolute, most coldest day we have had yet this year.  I think the temperature barely reached 45 degrees and the wind was blowing 120 miles an hour.  Seriously.  The weather was absolutely miserable, but the field trip was amazing, so I guess it’s still a win.K’s amazing teacher, Mrs. Flack, slid down this mile-long slide with her. And.. Read More

Pumpkin Patch tradition

For four years now, the West family and the Johnson family have made annual visits to the Pumpkin Patch.  Our usual place is Tate Farms, but this year, we tried out Gullion Farms.  (You may remember that name from this post.) The kids had SO much fun!  They saw the animals in the petting zoo…. … and did a little fishing. Horseback riding… Corn-crib swimming…. Hay-loft jumping…. Wagon riding… Picture.. Read More

Warrior Dash

Emily and I did the Warrior Dash in Warrior, Alabama this weekend.  It was SO much fun!! The second the starting gun went off, the rains fell down.  It poured the ENTIRE time we ran.  The good part was that everytime we got covered in mud, the rain washed it off 🙂 Here is a quick before photo, taken inside due to the torrential rain outside: And here is the.. Atlanta Braves, Star Wars, and a Mini-Vacay

For the past two days, we have been on a mini-vacay to Atlanta, Georgia, with some of our very best friends.  Can I just say that I have no clue how people traveled before technology?  Between Ipods and DVD players, there was hardly a peep from all four kids on the entire 4 hour drive! Of course, all the IPod playing, DVD watching, and car riding did make a certain someone.. Read More
