Easter Celebrations

We started out our Easter weekend with an egg hunt at church.  Each year, TBC hosts an Easter Extravaganza with blow-ups, food, and several hundred eggs.  It’s tons of fun.  The weather was great and we spent the entire afternoon just hanging out at church, fellowshipping with our people. Saturday night, we hosted dinner at our house for some friends.  Justin put some tri-tip on his new Orion cooker (which.. Read More

Smoky Mountain Adventures, Part 2

To be honest, I was a little skeptical about Gatlinburg for Spring Break.  I have always thought of it as more of a fall/winter destination.  I wasn’t quite sure what there would be to do in the Spring, but boy was I wrong.  We were go-go-go the entire trip! After the first days’ petting zoo visit, we decided we hadn’t seen quite enough of nature (haha!), so we went to.. Read More

Smoky Mountain Adventures, Part 1

For Spring Break, our family took a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.   I mean, our WHOLE family took a trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  Our 5, my parents 5, my grandparents, and my aunt and cousin.  Whew, what a crew! We all stayed in a chalet on the mountain.  Libby wanted to buy it, so we could all live together, all the time 🙂 We didn’t have a pool, but we.. Read More

Lately

We have been doing a whole lot of nothing around here lately and it has been absolutely wonderful.  Basketball is over and between bed rest and a new baby and the freezing temperatures outside, we do not leave this house.  Well, the girls leave to go to school, but that’s about it. You know what’s great about being at home?  I get to spend it with my people.  Like, really.. Read More

On Asking for Help

{source} I don’t like to ask for help.  I like to be the girl doing the helping.  I am independent to a fault.  I feel needed when someone asks me to help them.  I am the responsible one, the capable one, the one who helps with your kids and brings the meals (that I pick up, not cook, of course).  Because of this, I rarely give my people the opportunity to.. Just A Few Things for Monday

1.  From soccer to basketball.  Kyndall played her first game this weekend, during a preseason tournament.  She had SO much fun and did SO good.  She scored 2 points and had several steals.  I mean, how tough does she look in that picture? 2.  Libby had the stomach virus over the weekend, so she didn’t cheer at her game on Saturday.  She did feel well enough to come cheer Kyndall on.. Week In the Life 2014

Next week begins Ali Edwards’ yearly project “A Week in the Life.”  I’ve joined in on this little project for about 4 (maybe 5) years now and I love it.  It’s so fun to go back and see what we were doing a year ago.  The little things-snacks we purchased, shows we loved, house décor, etc. You can see my last year’s posts and pages here.  Last year captured the.. Parents, Grandparents, and Pumpkins… Oh My!

October, November, and December are some of my most favorite months of the year.  It seems like that are stock-full of all kinds of fun things to do. On Monday night, I made my World’s Best Chili (stay tuned later in the week for that recipe) and both sets of grandparents (and Aunt Mal) came to eat and help us carve pumpkins. Pops and Daddy cut the tops off and.. Read More

Field Trip!!! (And pumpkin patch visit #2)

Just so you know, if there is a pumpkin patch anywhere near us, you can trust that the West family has been there.  Between personal visits and field trips, we are experts on pumpkin patches in the south. Last week, Libby’s class ventured out to 4-D Family Farms in Hanceville, Alabama.  (It’s kind of a tradition around these parts to go to a farm/pumpkin patch in the fall.  Kyndall’s class.. Sidewalk Chalk Image Crusher

A few weeks ago, the girls and I made some fantastic sidewalk chalk art.  I traced Kyndall, Kyndall traced Libby, and Libby traced me.  That’s Libby on the left, Kyndall in the middle, and Big Mama on the right.  There’s nothing like having your child trace you in chalk to KILL whatever body image you’ve got going. Fun times =)
