Birmingham Zoo Birthday Fun

Birmingham Zoo

This summer should be nicknamed “Zoo Summer”.  First, we visited the Nashville Zoo, then The Little Zoo That Could, and, most recently, the Birmingham Zoo.  Both girls have birthdays soon and when we asked them what they would like to do, my animal-loving Kyndall decided to go to the zoo instead of having a party. We woke up bright and early Monday morning and made the two-hour drive to the Birmingham.. Read More

Thanksgiving, Football, and Advent

Last night, we celebrated Thanksgiving, round #4.  Justin’s family came to the house for turkey, dressing (that’s what us southerners call stuffing), and the works.  In the past few days I have had pumpkin pie, chocolate chip poundcake, butterfinger pie, and oreo cheesecake.  In other news, that whole “high protein, low carb” diet to deal with my hypoglycemia is going well. As I write this post, we are gearing up.. Read More

Just Another Manic Monday

Wow. You guys, last week was a wild one. We hosted the Book Fair at school, had one soccer game and two practices, went to gymnastics, attended a homecoming dance and sat through one way-too-long professional development meeting. Then, on Friday, we attended the Homecoming pep rally. Justin’s sister Kristi drove in from Arkansas with the cutest little nephew ever, West. (The girls think it’s uber cool that his first name.. Disney Family Vacay, Part 2

We started day four of our Disney vacation with a character breakfast at Hollywood & Vine, inside Hollywood Studios.  We were the first family of the day, so we were the only ones (that day!) to get a group picture with all four characters.  They gave us a “First Family” certificate and everything! Libby posed in every picture we took.  For the longest, I couldn’t figure out why her eye.. Read More

Disney Family Vacay, Part 1

Our Disney trip was so much fun and I want to make sure to tell you all about it.  There is just so much stuff that I decided to break it up into two separate posts, but each part is still pretty lengthy.  So grab a cup of coffee, prop your feet up, and enjoy part 1 of our Disney vacation recap. 🙂 Since the girls’ birthdays are so close.. Jase at 6 Months

You guys, I can’t believe it, but today my baby boy is 6 months old!  One half of a year!  This little boy has brought so much joy into our lives.  He laughs all the time.  He especially loves when the girls talk to him and the louder they get, the louder he laughs! I have been watching for weeks for signs of a tooth, because he is chewing things.. Read More

Lately (Shark Week version)

You guys, it’s SHARK WEEK!! I don’t usually get all into sharks, but I have been sucked in majorly this year.  Maybe it was Anna’s super awesome, last-minute, kick-off party? Funny story:  A few years ago, when Kyndall was 4(ish), Justin let her watch a few episodes of shark week.  In the middle of the night, I woke to heart stopping screams coming for her room.  I rushed in to.. That’s What She Said, Family Edition

Y’all, it is daily that my people say things to make me laugh.  Sometimes, it is just using the wrong word or phrase in a sentence.  Other times, it is something outright funny.  This is a collection of some of those things. On our recent hike to Bankhead, we crossed over a small creek.  Kyndall turns to my parents and says, and I quote, “I’m a dam expert.”  Can you.. Read More

The “Big Tree” Hiking Fail

Take note of that sling Jase is wrapped in–it’s going to be important later.  And those closed eyes are Libby’s new picture thing–she does it in every single picture she takes, unless I fuss.  The struggle is real, y’all. If you aren’t from around these parts (as in, North Alabama), you may have never heard of the Big Tree.  We live near the Bankhead National Forest and about three miles.. Read More

The Post With All the Photos, Take 2

Y’all, there is so much we have done and so much I have missed telling you, there may be three takes in this post series instead of the two I had planned!  Both of these girls racked up on awards day–Kyndall received the Governors Award for Physical Fitness, A-Honor Roll, and Student Council award.  Libby received A-Honor Roll. We ended the school year with a bang–awards day, Pride Program, gifts.. Read More
