The Greatest Pumpkin Patch Ever!

This weekend, we went to Lyon Family Farms in Taft, Tennessee.  I consider our family an expert on pumpkin patches in our area–we have been to every single one within a 2 hour driving distance.  Lyon Family Farms was, by far, the greatest ever. Here’s the crew (shirts courtesy of Crafty Cookie Boutique). And my favorite part of the food–roasted corn.  They also had steak sandwiches, pork loin plates, nachos,.. Read More

Pumpkin Patch tradition

For four years now, the West family and the Johnson family have made annual visits to the Pumpkin Patch.  Our usual place is Tate Farms, but this year, we tried out Gullion Farms.  (You may remember that name from this post.) The kids had SO much fun!  They saw the animals in the petting zoo…. … and did a little fishing. Horseback riding… Corn-crib swimming…. Hay-loft jumping…. Wagon riding… Picture.. Read More

Surprise Visitor

We had an unexpected and univited guest show up in our henhouse today.  That crazy hubby of mine came to the door holding a 5 foot long chicken snake, with what appeared to be one of our chicken eggs in its throat.  Can I just say that I am OVERJOYED he was the one who found it and not me and the girls?  I mean, can you imagine? Want to know.. Read More

The Day the Chickens Came to the Farm

Chickens came to our farm yesterday.  We actually went and picked them up from my cousin Moranda and her son, Bryson.  The girls were so thrilled!  They wanted to get everything just right last night, but all we really had time to do was throw them in the house before heading out to soccer practice.  So today, the girls and I got out there are did a little work.  First.. To-Do List Update

I know you all remember the big farm to-do list post from the beginning of the summer. Well, we now have ONE thing checked off that list!! The goat fence is down and the area is clean!  Here is the before: And here is the after: Doesn’t that look SO, SO much better? All nice and neat…. just perfect!  A big shout-out to my daddy for getting it all bush-hogged.. Read More

Taking Down a Fence

Yay! We had a very productive Saturday.  One thing I love about living on a farm–whenever you start on a project, there are bound to be helpers that show up!  We started taking down the goat fence (the one I mentioned in this post) and within a few minutes, my dad and papa had both shown up to lend a hand!  Here’s the crew getting ready.  And here’s how we.. Random Rewind

This week has been wonderful–super relaxing, with lots of time spent with friends and family.  I was going through my phone last night and found some things I just had to share. The first video in our rewind today is from last football season, fall 2011. And this second video is Kyndall’s music debut.  She wrote this song all by herself and sat down to sing it to us about a.. Read More

Busy, Busy Bee

That’s what I’ve been today.  Completely.  We spent about 2 hours at the pool this morning, and then I came back and got down to work.  I finished about 7 pages in our Disney 2010 album (I’ll show you those later). My wall went from this: to this: and finally, to this: I still need to get frames for the 5×7 photos and come up with some words to put.. Read More

Just for Fun

Today was spent swimming, eating, and visiting with some of our dearest friends. It was wonderful. Kyndall did get stung on the finger by a wasp.  War was declared.  Mommies with flyswatters and two types of buspray vs. all wasps in the pool area.  We left the little wasp bodies where they fell.  We wanted to send a message. Me? I got attacked with water guns a few times… The.. Read More

Fun Friday

After one last day of VBS fun, and then a little pool time, I joined some friends at a jewelry party.  The jewelry was Initial Outfitters.  They have tons of gorgeous stuff.  Like this amazing bangle bracelet:   And these super cute charm necklaces: If you haven’t heard of them before, check them out at www.initialoutfitters.com.  (I, unfortunately, am not connected to this company in any way and am not..
