IceSkating4When we went to Nashville a few weekends ago, they had an ice rink set up outside the Opryland Hotel. It was very warm outside, so they were having a hard time keeping the ice from melting. Instead of chancing it, we told the girls we would bring them ice skating at home.

We are fortunate to have the Point Mallard Ice Complex near our home. They offer a special $4 skating price during the week and since we were out of school on Monday, it seemed like the perfect time!

Gra-Gra offered to keep Jase so that both Justin and I were available to help the girls skate. It took us a little while to get warmed up, but ice skating is a lot like riding a bicycle–once you know, you know.

We ran into a lot of people we knew there.  Apparently, today was a great day for ice skating! It was really fun to see the girls who take lessons, all decked out in their outfits, twirling around on the ice.  Libby really thought she needed a pretty dress 🙂

I was impressed with how quickly both girls picked up skating.  They have both been once before, several years ago.  After only about twenty minutes today, they were tearing up the ice.  Almost like they were naturals.

At only $4 per person, I really feel like we got our money’s worth.  We also grabbed some concessions as a makeshift lunch, and they were pretty cheap as well.  All in all, it was an inexpensive family fun day that I would definitely recommend.

PS:  The girls thought it was really funny that I used to have birthday parties here when I was younger.  They couldn’t possibly imagine a building existing that long! 🙂
